AFTER SANDY HOOK, MEDIA TURN TO THE TREATMENT ADVOCACY CENTER

The Treatment Advocacy Center is the only national organization that focuses exclusively on severe mental illness and its consequences and is the nation’s leading source of information on state civil commitment laws and policies and other issues related to mental illness treatment.

Following the rampage killings that left 28 dead in Connecticut – including 20 young children – we have received innumerable emails from individuals living with severe mental illness and their families, seen our blog and Facebook posts shared by record numbers of followers and been contacted by media from coast to coast.
Here are a few of the news stories that have including the Treatment Advocacy Center, plus links to other media reports of interest:
If one of these stories or a  report in your own community provides an opportunity to share why mental illness treatment reform is important to you, please submit a letter to the editor, online comment or op-ed to advocate for improved laws and more complete use of them wherever you live. You'll find advocacy tips here.
