The crime committed here? No treatment before tragedy.

This happened right here in Knoxville yesterday.  The daughter is obviously very sick, in need of treatment for an untreated severe and persistent mental illness. I would not be surprised if her mother has been desperately trying to get her help for years - the perfect example of why we need assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) laws in Tennessee that would allow for mandatory court ordered treatment for loved ones who are too sick to recognize their illness, a condition called anosognosia.

The crime committed? There was no treatment before tragedy.
